The short layer is lovely purples and greens, with amazing amla. The effect is almost metallic, like the skirt was constructed out of mercury. The pallu is a maze of the same colors that bursts outward in a rectangular sunburst pattern. Mesmerizing.
The long layer is many colors, which kind of makes it no color. At least, not one color. The overall effect is brown, but not brown. Copper but not copper. We've given you crayons for the array...it shifts from green to purple to red and back. There is also a very dense, hard to see floral pattern, which serves as some texture. The bottom border has some lovely metallic ribbon sewn in, and the side borders on the 'wrong side' of the skirt have the same ribbon showing, which means that you can totally wear this layer out, without flipping it over the waistband.
The short layer as three blue flowers embroidered--if they were repair cover-ups, they are very well done. No obvious damage to this layer.
The long layer has a couple of red-like lines in the pattern that look like they are drawn in areas you might have expected more sewing to happen, an arc shape parallel to the bottom border, and a couple of vertical lines along right side of skirt. Not distracting, no obvious damage otherwise.
This skirt is approximately 57" x 33", plus ties. Darn Good Yarn skirts have 3 buttonholes in the waistband.
