The short layer is a really pretty green base fabric with a small-scale, medium density floral pattern. It's a really soft and silky layer.
The long layer...when i first saw it, I thought that it looked like the sky in Washington DC, a color that I have never seen anywhere else. I think that the Washington sky is so striking because of the contrast between it all the white granite buildings, and so here there is a contrast between the main color, and the wide arcs of white, which are softened at the edges so that they really do look like clouds. The skirt has an overlay of white leaves, and there are sprigs trailing across the white parts that, from a distance look almost like flowers intertwined with barbed wire. The pallu also sports flowers, and traditional geometric and botah shapes. The white design with blue flowers from the bottom and border repeat in the edge of the Pallu. Really lovely.
Short layer has a minor thread pull and one stain near the left border. There is a small stain, some areas of wear, and a few minor thread pulls on the long layer. Both layers drape softly - it will be very comfortable to wear.
This skirt is approximately 74"x28", plus ties. Darn Good Yarn skirts have 3 buttonholes in the waistband.
