We don't actually vote on the most interesting skirt of the week, but if we did, I'd vote for this one, hands down.
The main area of the short layer is a small-scale, super-hi-density floral in an olive green with almond designs. The entire layer has a regular overlay of a darker blue, which gives it an ombre effect, which is in an of itself lovely and is made more so when you realize that the blue designs are boteh! The pallu is in the same colors, but is a diagonal pattern of diamonds, boteh and fans. Stunning!
The long layer is all about amla--two different sizes and styles. The main color featured here is banana mania, which is an orangey yellow. There is a pallu with carets and diamonds and swirls and commas in black on lavender. As if the pallu weren't enough, there is also a very bold bottom border which features waves of...well, they look like pacman ghosts to me, but my lovely partner also sees bats. Either way, ghosts or bats, it's a halloween dream.
There was no damage noted on the short layer. The long layer has a very tiny tear and a minor ink miss.
This skirt is approximately 71" x 29", plus ties. Darn Good Yarn skirts have 3 buttonholes in the waistband.
